The portal operator
Operator: Jasper Woods
Support and privacy contact: jaspersbusinessstuff@gmail.com
The configured operator and contact are shown above. Its postal contact, responsibilities and relationship with the Students’ Union remain subject to review before broader member onboarding. The University of Warwick and Warwick Students’ Union are not assumed to operate this separate portal.
01
Your account
Register with your own accurate student name and Warwick student ID. Verify your university mailbox before using member content. Choose a password just for this portal; never give us your University password or share your society account.
A portal account gives access to the online content available to your role. It does not by itself confirm paid Students’ Union membership, a committee appointment, admission to an event or a recognised qualification. Check the separate arrangements for each activity.
02
The right access for your role
Ordinary members can read published firm profiles, course materials and member announcements, and use direct member chat. Team announcements and shared resources are reserved for administrator-assigned executive, department-head and analyst accounts. Department and role restrictions continue to apply after you sign in.
Protect your account with a strong, unique password and keep access to your verified mailbox secure. Access can change when responsibilities or appointments change. Do not try to bypass controls, use someone else’s account or circulate restricted files and download links beyond their intended audience.
The operator may use its private Google Drive account to store encrypted resource uploads. Uploads and permitted downloads stay within this website; membership does not grant direct access to the backing Drive folder. The privacy notice describes the active storage arrangement. Downloading a file gives you a copy that you must continue to protect.
03
Contributing responsibly
Use the portal for society, education and career activities. Do not upload malware, harass others, impersonate anyone or share unlawful material. Report an account compromise or a document shared with the wrong audience promptly.
Upload only material you have the right to share with the chosen audience. Respect copyright, licences, privacy and confidentiality. You retain your rights and permit the society to store and deliver your contribution to its approved audience for the operation of the portal. This does not transfer ownership.
04
Member conversations and public updates
Verified members can browse the alphabetical member directory and search by name to start a society conversation. It includes active, email-verified accounts, including accounts still completing setup, showing your name, role and department. Your email address and student ID are not included. Other members can start a conversation with you before you finish setup, but you must personally accept the current terms before reading or sending messages in the chat workspace; message emails require the recipient’s current terms acceptance. Use blocking to prevent further messages from another member, and report a specific message if it needs administrator review.
Direct conversations are visible in the application only to their participants. Reporting a message shares that selected message and your explanation with administrators for moderation. Messages are encrypted in storage, but this is not end-to-end encryption: the server processes readable messages and a server operator with access to the encryption key can decrypt them.
Deleting either participant’s account removes their direct conversations from the active database. Copies of explicitly reported messages may remain for moderation. Message emails are enabled by default after accepting these terms and can be switched off in account settings. They contain the sender’s display name and full message text; inbox previews and mailbox copies may remain after deletion from WMS. An authorised recipient may retain their own copies. Administrators choose whether announcements are public, members-only or restricted to a team. Published calendar events are public; confirm the intended audience before publishing.
05
Research, firm profiles and learning
Society content is for education and career exploration. It is not personalised financial advice, a recommendation to trade, or a promise of employment or investment results. Check sources, dates and assumptions before relying on an item.
Use public research or information expressly cleared for sharing. Do not upload confidential employer documents or non-public price-sensitive information. Restricting access to members does not make an otherwise unlawful disclosure permissible.
The proposed course initiative with CAIA remains in development. Course scope, availability and completion requirements will be explained when confirmed. No CAIA endorsement, accreditation or qualification is promised unless a confirmed agreement expressly supports it. Names and logos identify the organisations described and do not imply a broader endorsement.
06
Moderation and availability
We may remove material or restrict an account when reasonably necessary to address misuse, a security concern or loss of eligibility. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and provide a way to request a review. Urgent protective action may precede notice.
The portal may be unavailable during maintenance or development. We may make reasonable changes to the service and will explain material changes to these terms. Any future paid service will need its own clear purchase terms before payment.
07
Your information and choices
Account settings let you manage message emails, optional announcement emails and the separate preference for future event emails, export your account information and manage security. Announcement emails are enabled by default after you personally accept this updated notice and contain the full text of newly published notices available to your account; team permissions continue to apply. Edits and republishing do not resend a notice, and delivered email copies cannot be recalled. You can turn announcement emails off without losing noticeboard access. Event emails are not being sent yet. Verification and password-reset messages are separate account services.
Non-administrator accounts can request deletion in account settings after confirming their password. Administrators need a managed handover. Limited security records and any other necessary retained data are explained in the privacy notice. Contact the operator for a wider data request or assistance.
08
Responsibility and concerns
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
If something goes wrong, contact the operator so the concern can be investigated. These terms are a working draft for limited hosted testing. The operator must complete its legal review, provider arrangements and retention decisions before broader member onboarding. These terms do not certify legal compliance.
Read the privacy notice for information about account data, email choices and your rights. You can return to the members’ room at any time.
